Head Coach, Russeal D. Wortham

Coach Russeal Wortham is in her second year as head volleyball coach at Texas College and we are in the process of rebuilding the volleyball program. Last season, we had a young team which consisted of six freshmen, one junior and one senior. Of those only one student-athlete was a returner.  “It was a rough season for us, but I know that with hard work and dedication from the student-athletes the upcoming season will prove to be a season of success for the Lady Steers.”

Coach Wortham played all four years of high school volleyball at Lake View High School in San Angelo, Texas.  In 1989, she began attending Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas in which she also played four years. “My first year in college we had a very small team but we were able to work together and played well with one another.” I knew that with a small team we would face many obstacles.

While Playing at SRSU she was a four year letterman earned Most-Improved Player in 1989 and 1991.  In 1991, her team was the TIAA Conference Champions and they made it to the NAIA play-offs.

“With one year behind me, I look forward to the progress that will be made this upcoming season by those who really love the game of volleyball and who has chosen to be apart of Texas College Lady Steers”
