Texas College Mens Basketball Marquet Norfleet is entering his fifth year as the Head Coach for the Texas College Steers. Norfleet brought to his current job a thorough understanding of Texas College and a passion for the program. “My job is to prepare not only my athlete’s but the entire student body for the game of life”. Coach Norfleet was an outstanding athlete at Texas College and team captain from 2000-2002. He also led the team in scoring, free throw percentage, and three pointers. During that playing span he was also All-Conference. Coach Norfleet has received many awards his first two year as head coach including the Red River Athletic Conference Coach of the year for the 2009-2010 season and was chosen the Texas College Coach of the year for the 2nd straight year. The award he is most proud of is the Humanitarian Award, given to him by the Tyler Ladies of Distinction. Coach Norfleet is a strong believer of community service, “I believe we are in a position to impact the community in a positive way so why not use that ability in a positive way”. Coach led the steers to the school’s first 20 regular season win in school history, a 22-10 campaign. Originally from Memphis,Tennessee, Coach Norfleet is the grandson of the late Ruby L. Norfleet who he considers to be his role model. Norfleet is also the father of Tyreke D Norfleet. He received his B.S. from Texas College and is currently pursuing his Master of Science from New Mexico Highland University in Exercise and Sports Science.
